Emergency Collection for Syria

Leytonstone Islamic Association took part in the emergency food and essential supplies collection for Syria on Saturday 9th June 2018 as part of a borough wide Waltham Forest Council of Mosques (WFCOM) initiative which has seen 10 local mosques working together to help those affected by this crisis. 

The charity partner for this projected was Anaya Aid, who are a UK based humanitarian organisation providing international support responding to human sufferings in emergency and disaster situations all over the world.

Leytonstone Islamic Association has been a proud supporter of this project for several years and this year was no exception with droves of volunteers coming together at Leytonstone Mosque to pack and load donated items from local people and businesses into the awaiting trucks. This year’s collection saw 9 tonnes of food collected for distribution.
